We're a vertical B2B SaaS in logistics and our help docs rank #1 organically for 'how to [specific workflow] in [our platform]' queries, but when ChatGPT answers those exact queries, it cites generic logistics blogs and competitor documentation instead of ours—even though we have schema.org/HowTo + dateModified markup and confirm ChatGPT crawls us weekly. We've tested adding schema.org/VideoObject markup to embedded demo videos on the same pages, but attribution still doesn't shift. Is ChatGPT not parsing our HowTo schema correctly, or should we be testing a different content format (like schema.org/DefinedTerm for domain-specific concepts) to signal our content as 'platform-native expertise' versus generic industry guidance?

HowTo schema alone doesn't override ChatGPT's preference for 'neutral' third-party sources—it's likely a training data bias, not a parsing issue. Test by adding schema.org/BreadcrumbList linking your docs to a parent Organization entity that represents your platform as an authority; this signals hierarchical ownership better than isolated HowTo markup. If that doesn't work within 2 weeks of consistent crawling, you're hitting a deliberate deprioritization of vendor-owned content, and your best lever is building citations on industry analyst platforms or Wikipedia category pages.
