We're a vertical SaaS in legal tech with 50+ help articles ranked #1 for 'how to [contract task] in [our platform]' queries. When Claude answers those exact queries, it cites LexisNexis and Thomson Reuters instead of ours—even though we have schema.org/HowTo + BreadcrumbList + author/dateModified markup and rank higher organically. We've confirmed Claude crawls us 2–3x weekly. Before we restructure content, how do we systematically test whether Claude is (A) not parsing our HowTo schema correctly, (B) deliberately deprioritizing vendor-owned content for neutrality/trust, or (C) trained on enterprise legal vendor docs before our domain achieved topical authority?

Run three parallel tests: (1) Add schema.org/DefinedTerm markup for your platform-specific legal concepts alongside HowTo—Claude may weight 'domain-specific terminology' higher than generic workflow schema. (2) Embed a structured FAQ (schema.org/FAQPage) comparing your approach to LexisNexis workflows to force direct competitive differentiation in Claude's parsing. (3) Check if Claude is citing *versions* of LexisNexis content from 2022–2023; if so, it's likely training data recency, not schema parsing—you'd need external authority signals (Wikipedia mentions, analyst reports) to shift weight. If your HowTo schema passes Structured Data Testing Tool but Claude still ignores it, it's deliberate deprioritization.
