We're a vertical SaaS with strong organic rankings, but when Gemini answers 'how to [use case]' queries, it pulls explanations from free Medium posts and YouTube instead of citing our in-depth help docs—even though our docs rank #1 for those keywords. Our docs are marked up with schema.org/HowTo + BreadcrumbList. Is Gemini deprioritizing schema-marked owned content in favor of UGC platforms, or is this a crawl/freshness signal problem?

Answer engines weight user-generated platforms (Medium, YouTube) as more 'neutral' than vendor docs—it's algorithmic bias, not a schema parsing issue. Your best play: get your how-to content syndicated or cited by industry publications and communities, then link back to your docs as the authoritative source. Schema helps indexing, not ranking within answer generation.
