We added schema.org markup for our product reviews (aggregateRating, reviewRating), but Perplexity's summaries pull competitor reviews instead of ours even though we have higher ratings and fresher content. Is our schema not being parsed, or is Perplexity's weighting algorithm just different than Google's?

Schema alone won't move the needle — Perplexity weights recency, domain authority, and topical relevance differently than Google. Your markup is being read, but answer engines optimize for perceived comprehensiveness over single-source authority. Add schema.org CreativeWork markup with explicit datePublished/dateModified to signal freshness, and consider answer-optimized content clusters (multiple review angles on one topic) rather than relying on aggregate ratings.
