We're a B2B SaaS company and noticed that when Perplexity answers questions about our software category, it pulls feature comparisons from Reddit threads and G2 reviews instead of our own detailed product documentation—which is technically superior and fresher. We've marked up our docs with schema.org/SoftwareApplication, but it's not moving the needle. Is this a schema parsing issue, or are answer engines deliberately deprioritizing vendor-authored content in favor of third-party sources?

Asked by Jake M.
Answer engines weight third-party consensus over vendor claims—it's a trust signal. Your schema.org/SoftwareApplication markup helps, but it won't override that bias. Instead, get your docs cited *by* authoritative third-party sources (analyst reports, industry reviews, developer communities). Then those sources become the entry point, and your docs get surfaced as the canonical reference.
