Google AI Overviews keeps citing our closed locations and menu items we discontinued two years ago. We've updated our website, but the AI still serves outdated info to customers searching for our hours or pricing.

Google AI Overviews pulls from cached or archived versions of your web pages, and sometimes from third-party directories and review sites that haven't been updated. The lag between your site refresh and what the AI sees can be weeks or months. Start by auditing where the outdated info is appearing: search your restaurant name plus specific menu items or locations in Google Search, then check what shows in the overview box. Note the exact claims.
Then do three things this week. First, find the source—check your Google Business Profile for each location and make sure hours, menus, and status (open/closed) are current there. Google often pulls from GBP into AI Overviews. Second, look at third-party sites like Yelp, OpenTable, or Zomato that rank for your brand queries; update your profile on whichever ones show the stale info. Third, on your own website, add schema.org/Restaurant markup with your current menu items, hours, and locations, and make sure discontinued items are removed entirely—don't just hide them visually.
After making changes, wait 5–7 days, then search again. The overview should start pulling fresher data. If old info persists after two weeks, the issue is likely a third-party site outranking your own content in the AI's sources—in that case, prioritize correcting the highest-traffic directory first.
